This workshop for system leaders makes the case for intentionally and overtly incorporating outdoor learning into the district or school strategic planning process. Outdoor learning can be a supportive structure connecting many of the competing mandates and priorities of educational systems. Improved learning outcomes, Truth and Reconciliation, physical and mental health, and sustainability are imperatives of our work with strong connections to outdoor learning. A nature-based narrative can be a powerful way to create interest and buy-in for a strategic plan. Get inspired by an existing example, reflect on your own system needs, and talk with colleagues from other jurisdictions. Bring your own plan priorities and explore the possible connections to outdoor learning. Leave with ideas for bringing alignment and joy to the complexity of strategic planning.
